At IHC we understand your need to protect precious works of art and optimise storage space to ensure that your collection continues to grow and live on. It is important to store artworks within the correct conservation material in a stable environment to protect them long term and slow down any form of degradation. Art storage presents a unique challenge as paintings, sculptures, textiles, 3D objects, come in varying sizes, mediums and require special environmental and storage solutions.

We plan and implement custom designed visual storage concepts keeping in mind the size and diversity of your collection. IHC offers nine different storage solutions that include a varied combination of high-density mobile systems, shelving units, storage racks and cabinets that are customised based on your requirements, space and budget. We also develop a comprehensive line-up with many safety and security features that include pest management, environmental monitoring and control. Our goal is to meet each client’s individual storage needs and functional requirements when it comes to the care of their collection.

• For large collections, art storage racks with double-faced woven steel mesh design allows flexibility in hanging two-dimensional works on both sides of the rack without interference.
• In case of space restrictions, pullout art racks with an overhead track can be used to minimise vibration and to ensure that artworks can be pulled out smoothly. Here each work is interleaved with acid-free tissue, glassine or micro chamber for extra protection during storage.
• We custom design cabinets with adjustable shelving height for you to store three-dimensional works with a full view of the stored items. We also create an ambient microclimate for the longevity of the artwork.
• Apart from introducing new storage facilities, IHC also rehouses collections within the client's existing space and works with the given resources and budgets.
• In order to ensure the safety of your works it is important to maintain an inventory of your collection. We customise an inventory management software with unique product identification system so that you can track the location of all objects.
• We create a climate-controlled environment with steady humidity and temperature levels to protect your artworks. Along with this we also use suitable storage and packing materials to provide microclimate for individual pieces.
• We provide practical storage tips that can be readily implemented by your staff with some basic training.
