Project at Sanskriti Pratisthan

Sanskriti Pratisthan houses two museums – ‘Museum of Everyday Art’ and ‘Museum of Indian Terracotta’. The NGO is setting up another museum of ‘Indian Textiles’, whose Preventive Conservation and Storage of Textiles was also done in 2002 by me. Apart from it, it has a wide variety of Indian Contemporary Oil Paintings and Paper Paintings in the personal collections of the President of Sanskriti Pratisthan.

Conservation and Storage of Textile Collection
There are nearly 200 significant textiles in Indian textile collection. The preventive conservation of all the textiles is being done. Special fumigation chamber and storage chamber are made for them. The textiles are rolled face out on the wooden rollers covered with tissue paper and cotton cloth. The cabinets made for storage are made of wood (Cidrus Deodara) and are covered with tissue paper. The drawers are made under every storage chamber; the fumigants are put in it for regular fumigation.
